Ingredients:
12 thick slices bread;
1 1/3 cups milk;
3 whole eggs;
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon;
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg; (optional);
1 teaspoon vanilla extract;
1/8 teaspoon salt;
1 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar; or vanilla sugar;
2 tablespoon butter; for pan.
Preparation:
Combine and beat together egg, sugar, milk, salt, desired spices, and vanilla. Heat a lightly buttered griddle or skillet over medium-high. Dunk each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides. Place in skillet or griddle and cook on both sides until golden.
Serve hot with: pure maple syrup or powdered sugar or favorite jam.
